Boss babe took a long break, longer than deserved. Meet our boss babe of July ( also it is her birthday month!!) She has turned her passions into a fierce brand.

YOU ARE OUR BOSS BABE OF THE MONTH, TELL US ABOUT YOUR BRAND.
I am a change agent and a strong believer of ‘one girl can change the world’. My mission is to impart and pass on knowledge, create job opportunities and career development. I am the founder and admin of Glam Life, the first Kenyan makeup group which comprises of beauty gurus and makeup enthusiasts who have been brought together by our love for beauty. It is also where by makeup career was born about one year ago. Also, I am founder and admin of Glam My Home which is all about all things interior design, decor and home improvement.
YOU HAVE AN UP-COMING MAKE-UP MASTER CLASS,TELL US WHAT TO EXPECT.
Lots of learning, lots of fun and lots of gifts too. I will be holding the Makeup Master class on 8th July 2017 at Swiss International Lenana Mount Hotel from 2pm-5pm. Don’t miss out.
HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU STARTED YOUR FIRST JOB?
I was 23 when I got my first job as Human Resource Assistant.
WHAT IS THE BEST AND THE WORST DECISION YOU HAVE EVER MADE?
Best decision- Quitting my job to follow my passion
Worst decision- Spending almost one year which I will never recover looking for a job.
YOU ARE A REVOLUTIONARY IN THE KENYAN BEAUTY, MAKE UP AND GLAM SCENES. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR FEMALES IN LEADERSHIP?
The biggest challenge is being told you are not enough just by virtue of you being a woman, and this applies to all fields. Entrepreneurship used to be a male dominated area, but tides are shifting and I hope mentalities will change too.A
GOOD BOOK OR A GOOD MOVIE?
WHICH 2 WOMEN INSPIRE YOU AND WHY?
Michelle Ntalami of Marini Naturals – She has managed to create a natural hair line from a dream which started in her bathroom mixing concoction for friends to the Marini Naturals that we know today. If there is one thing I have learnt from her, it is not to be afraid to walk the road less travelled.
Caroline Mutoko – She is the Kenyan Oprah Winfrey, i started listening to her when I was very young and I still do today. I have learnt from her that you do not have to be ‘seasonal’ you can decide that you are here to stay without losing relevance.
WHAT WOULD YOU TELL A YOUNGER YOU?
You don’t have to please everyone, do things for you. Dare to dream
HOW’S A DAY IN ASHAS’S LIFE LIKE?
I wake up 5:30am take a shower, make breakfast for kids while reading emails on the phone, answering comments, questions and queries on my social media platforms . Prepare the kids for school. Catch up on morning news while grabbing a quick bite. My days are unpredictable, each day is totally different from the other. I either will be doing makeup classes, makeup appointments, client meetings, interior design project shopping or actual implementation of the projects. I get back home at around 5pm in time to check the kids homework and prepare dinner. We have dinner with family, put the kids to bed at around 8:30pm. Take a quick shower and catch up with the 9pm news then probably binge watch an episode of my current favorite TV show then go to bed by 11pm.
WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES YOU HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH IN YOUR BUSINESS?
Dealing with different people every day, some can be a little mean but my HR skills come really handy in knowing how to handle clients.
HOW DO YOU UNWIND?
A movie and ice-cream or a spa date
WHAT MAKES YOU JUMP OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING?
The fact that i wake up to do something i love, the satisfaction i get from it is priceless.
HOW DO YOU ACHIEVE A WORK-LIFE BALANCE?
I prioritize my work from the most to the less demanding. I leave work at work. In my line of work I rarely have backlogs so this helps a great deal. I am also very ‘selfish’ with my private time.
I’m a DIY lover. I love to indulge in my little creations.
BEAUTY SECRETS YOU SWEAR BY?
Yoghurt and gram flour. Whenever I want that ‘shine bright like a diamond instant glow’ this homemade mask is my all time go-to.
So there you have it, you too can find your passion and just do it already. If you love makeup or have no idea about makeup book a date with Asha in Nairobi on July 8th 2017.
