Camping is not for the faint hearted. I recently went camping. PS: I am not an outdoor person but somehow I made it through the night. There is something surreal about sleeping in a tent especially when a few hippos are lurking a couple of meters across an electric fence. My search for adventure led me to a tented camp site just outside Nairobi. Have I mentioned I am now hooked on this, I can’t believe I haven’t been camping my entire life!
If you are extremely thorough on what to pack for your camping trip, here’s what:
A lot of these items are optional and you might only need a change of clothes, extra bedding(it gets extremely cold in the dead of night), a spotlight, some soap, lotion, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a knife and a lighter, Oh and wine, everything is better with wine! Plus if they will have a bonfire at the site, what is a bonfire without some wine?
Plan ahead of your trip. If you are going out of town. Leave early, traffic happens outside Nairobi as well. If you are going to a tented camp, call ahead of arrival and request that they pitch your tent before you get there.
So next time you need a break from the hustles and bustles of the city, grab a friend and a back-pack and go sleep in a tent for a night!
